HEAR2GETHER FOR WINDOWS
Windows app
Privacy Policy
This policy applies to the current local-output Windows edition of hear2gether. It describes audio capture and playback through headphones or speakers connected to your PC. The Mac app and website have separate policies.
1. Information the app processes
The Windows app uses Windows loopback audio capture to access eligible sound playing on your PC. That sound can include music, movie audio, or audio from other applications, and may contain personal or sensitive information depending on what you play.
The app processes the audio and the technical audio-device information needed to send it to your chosen connected outputs. Device information can include output names, identifiers, audio format, and connection or availability status. It is used to provide audio playback, not to build an advertising profile.
2. Where audio goes
In this Windows release, audio is processed locally and delivered to the headphones or speakers you select. The app does not upload captured audio to hear2gether servers or an Internet listening service, transmit it to other phones or computers as a network-sharing feature, or save it as an audio recording.
Audio is handled in temporary playback memory rather than retained as a recording. Stop the app’s capture/playback to end that processing. The operating system and selected audio devices manage their own connections. If you select a third-party, virtual, or remote audio output, that provider’s separate routing and privacy practices also apply.
3. Accounts, analytics, and advertising
The current Windows local-output release does not require a hear2gether account and does not include publisher-operated analytics, advertising tracking, or automatic telemetry collection. The publisher does not receive captured audio or a history of what you listen to through this feature.
4. Windows and Microsoft Store services
Windows, device drivers, and Microsoft Store may independently process diagnostic, security, account, licensing, or purchase information according to their own settings and policies. Those platform services are separate from hear2gether’s loopback-audio processing. If you obtain the app through Microsoft Store, Microsoft handles the Store account and payment flow; the app does not receive your payment-card details.
See the Microsoft Privacy Statement and review your Windows privacy and diagnostic settings. The publisher may receive Store reports or information you choose to provide when asking for help, but not captured audio through the app’s local playback feature.
5. Information you send for support
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. Technical details such as app version, Windows version, and error messages can help us respond. Please do not send private recordings, passwords, or payment-card details. Support email is processed through our email provider.
We use support information to answer your request, investigate reported issues, and maintain necessary support or legal records. It is retained only as needed for those purposes and applicable legal obligations. You may request access, correction, or deletion using the contact below; lawful recordkeeping requirements may limit deletion.
6. Your choices and control
- Start capture only when you intend to share your computer’s sound with the selected outputs.
- Stop capture, deselect outputs, close the app, or disconnect devices to control playback.
- Use Windows settings to manage connected audio devices and any system access required by the app.
- Uninstall the app to stop using it. This does not delete records independently held by Microsoft Store, your email provider, or other platform services.
7. Sharing, security, and children
We do not sell captured audio or use it for advertising. App audio is not sent to the publisher under the local-output behavior described above. Support communications may be processed by email/service providers and disclosed where required by law or necessary to protect rights and security. Operating-system controls and appropriate access protections are used, but no software or connection is guaranteed completely secure.
The app does not offer child accounts or intentionally request children’s personal information. If you believe a child has sent personal information to our support address, contact us so we can address the request under applicable law.
8. Policy updates and contact
We will update this policy and its effective date when relevant data practices change, including before introducing publisher-operated network sharing, accounts, analytics, or recording features. This policy describes the current release, not features that may be introduced later.
